About the gallery

Where East African stories gather

Munyu Space is an independent institution championing contemporary artists from Nairobi and beyond. We commission site-responsive installations, preserve iconic works, and convene conversations that shape the region’s creative future.

Our mission

We amplify experimentation rooted in African perspectives. Each season, curators pair emerging voices with seasoned masters to explore craft, identity, ecology, and shared futures.

  • Residencies for sculptors, textile artists, and digital creators
  • Conservation lab for works on paper and kinetic pieces
  • Community studios that host schools and interdisciplinary labs
“We treat every wall as a page in Nairobi’s unfolding story—the gallery is a living archive for our communities.” — Wanjiru K., Chief Curator
